David Mohr rescued Roleaux (a Weimaraner/Labrador mix) from CARA's House in Sorrento, Louisiana when Roleaux was 4 months old. Roleaux was tragically killed on Sunday, July 7th, 2019 when his dad's truck was stolen from a doughnut shop in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. His dad, David Mohr, clung to the driver's door yelling "My dog! You have my dog! I just want my dog!" The female driver then dragged David over 20 feet before she ran over his body with the truck, crushing his pelvis and sending him to the ER. The police found the truck just a few miles away the next day with the windows rolled up, the doors locked and Roleaux found dead in the back seat from heat exhaustion. SUCH A HORRIFIC ENDING!
The Mohr Family created The Roleaux Foundation in honor of our sweet and loving boy because Roleaux would want us to help his friends be happy in their shelters and be even happier by finding a forever home. We asked Roleaux everyday if he “was a happy dog?" and he always responded in a way that indicated an enthusiastic “yes!”.
The Roleaux Foundation was established to assist 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations whose missions are to save the lives of neglected, abused, homeless, and unwanted pets and that are committed to educate the public on the humane treatment of animals and the importance of responsible pet ownership. We assist organizations by providing financial support through monetary donations, donations of needed equipment and supplies, and through public education.
"Are you a happy dog?"
Sure you are, and you'll be even happier to know that the Roleaux Foundation has been granted 501(c)(3) tax exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service. Donations to my foundation are tax deductible!
